Professor Dr. (Col.) Probhas Bose, graduated from Indian Military Academy, Dehradun in Jun 1987 has over 39 years of industrial, academic and administrative experience which includes 21 yrs of teaching.

He likes to be introduces as a Soldier because of his illustrious military career spanning three decades. He superannuated in the rank of Colonel in May 2016 and he joined the fulltime academia. He has been the Associate Professor at Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (Deemed University), former Directors of Adamas Institute of Technology and College of Engineering & Management, Kolaghat, former Principal of Dr Sudhir Chandra Sur Degree Engineering College, Kolkata before taking over the assignment of Director at Budge Budge Institute of Technology, Kolkata.

Professor Bose, an alumnus of Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering, Secunderabad, has obtained two master degrees in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Armament Engineering from MS University, Vadodra, in 1993 and in Heat Power from BIT Mesra in 2006 respectively. For his research work in the field of Composite Solid Propellant, he has been awarded PhD by NIT Silchar in 2014.

He has undergone professional courses in Power Plant Engineering, Automobile Technology, Turbomachines, Earth Movers, Munition Technology, Weapon Technology, Management (HR & Finance), Pedagogy and UHV. He is preaches and practices life-long self- directed learning and completed 28 MOOCs out of which 18 courses are under NPTEL. He is domain certified as Faculty (Advanced) and a recognized motivated learner.

He has been a Paper Setter and Head Examiner for ME Courses of Pune University and also Paper Setter and examiner for B.Tech and M.Tech Courses of MAKAUT, West Bengal. He has been actively involved in R & D assignments of DRDO, IEI and AICTE. To his credit there are 23 papers published in national and international Journals and 17 papers presented in national and international conferences and seminars. His area of research includes Solid Propellant, EV and Robotics.

For his contribution in the field of academics, Dr Bose has been awarded Tipu Sultan Rolling Trophy and Sir JC Bose award for standing first in order of merit in Advanced Weapon Technology Course at Defence Institute of Advanced Technology in Dec 1999. He is also the recipient of ‘Er VS Chauhan-Rajyashree Chauhan Award 2013’ in 93 rd Annual General Meeting of The Institution of Engineers (India), UP State Centre, Lucknow on 27 Oct 2013 for best technical paper.

Dr Bose is a certified Advanced Weapon Technologist, Fellow life members of The Institution of Engineers (India) and Indian National Congress Association, Members of American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Society of Automotive Engineers and Regional Convener, Eastern Region of Veterans India, an organizing working in the field of youth development.
